Our Learning

Assessment

Assessment should celebrate the learning journey of a child and be used to promote each individual pupil’s learning to ensure that they make progress throughout their school life, whilst fulfilling statutory requirements. On-going assessment, recording and reporting is an integral part of planning and teaching and is a system by which excellence in teaching and learning can be promoted and standards can be raised. At Hambrook we use ongoing assessments and assessment points to measure progress and attainment.

Reporting to Parents/Carers

We welcome discussions with parents at any point through the year to discuss any questions you may have around your child's progress or attainment. There are three more formal times when we will share your child's attainment and progress, these are:

-Parents/Carers Evening 1 in October/November

-Parents/Carers Evenign 2 in February/March

-A written report in July followed up by an optional time to meet with your child's class teacher to discuss the written report.

Children with additional needs

If your child has additional needs and an IEP (Individual Education Plan) your child's class teacher will meet with you three times a year to review the plan. This is a joint process and will always be done with parents/carers. If you have any concerns between these meetings please contact your child's class teacher or Mrs. Pitman (Inclusion Lead) or Mrs. Yeo (SENDCO).
