School uniform

Uniform at Hambrook Primary School

The school uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of a school and setting an appropriate tone. The Department strongly encourages schools to have a uniform… The Department also encourages schools to have a very clear position about appearance such as hair colour, style and length and the wearing of jewellery and make-up.’ (DFE guidelines September 2013)

It is our school policy that all children wear school uniform when in school, or when participating in a school event outside normal school hours unless agreed otherwise. We provide a complete list of the items needed for school uniform on our website.

Our policy on school uniform is based on the notion that it:

  • promotes a sense of pride in the school and engenders a sense of community and belonging;
  • encourages identity with, and support for, the school ethos
  • is practical and smart;
  • prevents children from coming to school in fashion clothes that could be distracting in class;
  • makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance;
  • is designed with health and safety in mind.
  • nurtures cohesion and promotes good relations between different groups of pupils
  • supports positive behaviour and discipline
  • protects children from social pressures to dress in a particular way.

Our School Uniform is as follows:
