Welcome to Term 2. We are excited to share lots of exciting events planned this term (more details below). It's a really exciting term with lots of events for families to be involved, we look forward to seeing you at as many events as possible.
Thank you for your continued support
Being at school regularly and on time gives your chance the very best chances of being happy, making friends and doing well at school.
We will be sharing individual attendance updates with parents at parents' evening in the coming weeks. With Arbor you can log in at any time to see your child's attendance. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
Our website contains a wealth of useful information for parents/carers on what children learn at Hambrook. Below are some details and links. Should you require any more information, please get in touch with your child's class teacher.
You can find out more about our curriculum at Hambrook. Our curriculum is specific to Hambrook and has been carefully designed to promote high engagement, learning and enjoyment for all our learners. More information can be found here.
Each class has a termly overview. This termly overview includes information on the topics, subjects and areas of mathematics and English that will be taught each term in each year group of our school. These can be found here and these are updated at the start of every term.
Each class has a yearly overview. This yearly overview includes information on all the subjects that will be taught each year at Hambrook and in which term they will be taught. These can be found here.
Each subject (e.g. science, geography) at Hambrook has an overview document. This includes information on how that subject is taught across the school. These can be found here.
A polite reminder of our school uniform at Hambrook. More information can be found on our website here.
Please note we do not allow jewellery, make up or brightly dyed hair. We do allow an analogue watch and stud earrings (children must remove these for all PE lessons or bring tape if to cover them if they are newly pierced).
Lunchtime Play at Hambrook
An update from Mr. Noone
In last term’s newsletter we informed you all that this year we are developing our approach to play for all children at Hambrook by working to develop it with OPAL (more information on OPAL can be found here). A lot of work has already been done behind the scenes and we are now at a stage where new things are going to be available for children to do at lunchtimes. Please make sure that your child is bringing in a waterproof coat with a hood everyday as we aim to have children outside as much as possible including when raining, as long as it is safe to do so.
Our lunchtime play team are going to be trialling lots of new ideas all aimed at maximising opportunities for play as we gradually provide new experiences and resources over the rest of the coming year. To support this we are looking for donations of old or unused items from our school community that will help develop what we can offer our children.
This term we are looking to develop a new mud kitchen in our adventure playground and would love donations of any of the following:
any old pots or pans
kitchen utensils e.g spatulas, mashers, whisks (nothing sharp or with a blade)
metallic mixing bowls (nothing glass, ceramic or that could break easily if dropped)
This term we will also be establishing a digging area, wheels area, dressing up area and some quieter areas of the playground where activities such as drawing, reading, small world and creative activities can take place. To support with these we would also love some donations of:
any old suitcases or baggage, especially those with wheels
clean old clothes, including hats or anything fancy dress
small world toys e.g animals, dolls, cars anything miniature
Finally, we are still after more resources that children can use to enhance and expand on play we are already offering so are looking for more donations of wooden pallets, any tyres or planks of wood/timber that children can use for den building.
Any donations would be a massive help to enhancing play at Hambrook and we are looking forward to sharing lots of photos on Twitter as more things are introduced. If you are able to help with donations or have any questions please speak to Mr Noone or Mr Thompson.
There will be further information for parents, including on arrangements for children to have wellies in school, later in the term.
We are delighted to invite parents/carers to the following Christmas events. More details about booking a place will be sent out nearer the time. All children in KS1 will need to attend both nativity performances and all KS2 children are asked to attend the KS2 carol concert. Both performances of the KS1 Nativity are identical.
School Christmas lunch will be on Wednesday 7th December 2022. Menus and booking details will be sent out nearer the time.
PTA Christmas Fair
Our wonderful PTA are holding our annual Christmas Fair at school on Friday 2nd December from 5pm-8pm.
Parents' Evenings will be happening on Wednesday 23rd November and Thursday 24th November 3.30-6.10pm. You will shortly be receiving link from the office to book your slot. All meetings will be in person in our school hall.
Mathematics and English books will be going home on Friday 18th November for you to enjoy looking at with your child. Please return all books with your child to school on Monday 21st November. These books will be needed for your child to complete classwork, so it is imperative they are returned on the Monday morning, thank you.
In our @JigsawPSHE lesson, #hambrook6 have been challenging their own views on what "normal" means. We've had an incredible conversation about how normal is something that is individual to you and not conforming to "most". We explored disabilities and differences in our society. https://t.co/bt0wyeqL78
This morning in English, #Hambrook2 were transported into space! We watched videos and imagined we were in space using our senses. Finally, we read our new text 'Look Up!' and created space pictures using oil pastels. https://t.co/p6xzRGpZkg
#hambrook4 produced some amazing Harvest art for their performance yesterday in our Harvest assembly. Mrs Stace was so proud of each and everyone of them! Well done Year 4 and have a lovely half term https://t.co/zHJQ40MrJv
