TERM 4 2023

Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to term 4. We hope all of our families had a restful and enjoyable half-term. There are lots of exciting events happening this term including a World Book Day, Lego Club finals, non-school uniform day for DEC, meditation and Forest School lessons, please see below for more details.

Thank you for your continued support

Mrs. Rubel

School lunches at Hambrook

We encourage all parents/carers to read our School Meals Provision Policy .

Our cooked meals at Hambrook are provided by an external company called Intregra.

Intregra run the kitchen, employ the staff in the kitchen and provide the cooked meals for our pupils. Because the meals are provided by an external company (and not school) it is imperative that parents/carers (in line with the policy) pay for meals before they are taken.

Thank you for your support with this.

Holidays in term time

A polite reminder that we do not authorise any holidays in term time. We recommend all parents/carers read our Attendance Policy and are familiar with it.  It is important that all parents/carers understand that if you choose to take your child/ren out of school for a holiday in term time you may be issued with a fine from the Local Authority. Our policy includes more details on this.

Please note we do not provide work for pupils who take holiday in term time.

Bubble Bach!

The whole school had a very special treat yesterday!

We all enjoyed a wonderful classical music concert accompanied by bubbles! The children enjoyed listening to music by Johann Sebastian Bach and learnt about the wonderful science of bubbles! What a lovely way to spend Thursday afternoon. We hope your children came home excited and enthused about the concert!

OPAL Play Coordinator Vacancy at Hambrook

We are looking for a new Play Coordinator at Hambrook Primary School.

Do you enjoy working with children and creating fun learning opportunities? Are you interested in leading a team? Are you positive, enthusiastic and happy to be outside in all weathers?

Hambrook Primary School has an opening for a new Play Coordinator. This role is Monday- Friday 1.5 hours a day (at lunchtimes) and one additional afternoon per week. Term time only! If you are interested, please contact the school office for an application form and job description.

OPAL- update term 4

We are expecting this term to be a bit of a muddy one so would encourage all children to have wellies in school so they can still use the adventure playground. Additionally if you would like to send any spare uniform into school with your child, please do so in a PE style drawstring bag that can be kept on classroom pegs.

Thanks to a generous donation, we have been able to purchase some new water butts and composters for the playground that we will be using to establish a gardening and water play area in the adventure playground. We will be encouraging children to add any fruit peelings from playtime snacks into the composter as well as food waste from the staff room and school kitchens. To add to our new water play area we are looking for any donations of:

  • Jugs
  • Plastic bath toys e.g rubber ducks
  • Guttering or any similar plastic tubing through which water could flow

Thank you for your continued support as we develop our play provision, the children are continuing to benefit from the changes made so far and it’s been great seeing a wider variety of play at lunchtimes.

World Book Day- Friday 3rd March

Hambrook will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 3rd March. This year's theme is Bedtime Story. Children are welcome to come into school either wearing pyjamas or a world book day costume of their favourite character.

We will be enjoying lots of book related activities throughout the day.

School Competition

We will be holding a book selfie competition where children can recreate a book cover featuring themselves. Some examples of these are below. These can be emailed to the school office with ‘FAO your child’s year group’ or printed and given to your child’s teacher. A winner will be chosen from each class.

Smartwatches and Mobile Phones

A polite reminder that we do not allow any smartwatches capable of taking photos, sending messages or making calls at school.

If your child is in upper KS2 and requires a mobile phone because they walk home alone, this must be given into the school office at the start of the day and collected when the bell rings at the end of the day.

Thank you.

Teacher Strike Days

The NEU have three more possible strike days coming up. The dates are 2nd March, 15th March and 16th March. As soon as we know how this may impact Hambrook I will let you know.

Children impacting change!

We are pleased to be holding a non-school uniform day on Monday 20th March. All money raised will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee to support families affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

This day has been organised by one of our fantastic Year 1 pupils. We are so pleased that pupils at Hambrook have a voice and use it to help others!
