OPAL- update term 5
It has been wonderful seeing the children embrace some muddy play recently and we are seeing even more fantastic den building happening at lunchtimes. The digging area and mud kitchen have been big successes and children have loved the opportunity to get a bit messy! We have begun our composting project and are hopeful that soon we will be able to begin some planting and gardening at lunchtimes.
As we move into our first summer of OPAL we are looking forward to putting out some new resources and beginning some water play as well. Thank you to the family who have donated some guttering that we will be using to facilitate this. Children have already started wearing and playing in the new dressing up costumes that have been donated and these are contributing to some great imaginative play with both our older and younger children.
As the weather improves we are hoping to get some more den building going on and would love some softer furnishings to facilitate these. We are hoping these can be used to build some shade as the weather heats up over the next few months.
This term we are asking for:
- Old sheets or bed linen
- Any large water containers
- Builders bags
- Tarpaulin
And we are still hoping to receive:
- Plastic bath toys e.g rubber ducks
- Guttering or any similar plastic tubing through which water could flow
We have also now appointed a new play coordinator. We are delighted to welcome Mrs Dalton to the team who will be working closely with Mr Noone and the rest of the play team to continue to build and enhance our play provision at Hambrook.
As the weather heats up please ensure children have hats and waterbottles in school so they can use these at lunchtimes.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Mr Noone
