Headteacher's Welcome
Welcome back to the summer term. I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Easter break with your families. It’s wonderful to see the children return with such enthusiasm and energy, ready for another exciting term of learning!
The summer term is always a special one full of opportunities, achievements, and celebrations. From sports days, school trips and end-of-year celebrations, there’s so much to look forward to. We’re also looking ahead to supporting our Year 6 pupils as they prepare for their transition to secondary school and ensuring their final terms with us are memorable and enjoyable. We also look forward to welcoming our new Reception starters for their transition visits.
We are grateful for your ongoing support and involvement in helping with homework, attending events, and encouraging your child to do their best each day.
Wishing all of our families a happy and enjoyable Summer Term!
Best wishes,
Mrs. Rubel

Summer Term at Hambrook
As we enter the Summer Term (Terms 5 and 6), pupils are welcome to wear our School Summer Uniform.
To help keep everyone safe in the warmer weather, we kindly ask that all children:
-
Bring a summer hat to school each day
-
Arrive with sunscreen already applied (we recommend applying the 'apply once a day' suncreen to your child in the mornings before school and them bringing a small travel sized bottle for self-application later in the day if needed)
-
Bring a full water bottle
In line with our sun safety policy, pupils without a sunhat will be asked to stay in the shade during breaktimes.
Please also ensure that your child’s footwear follows our school guidelines. Crocs and flip-flops are not permitted.
Thank you for your continued support.

Attendance-requests for absences
We would like to remind all families that if you are planning for your child to be absent from school during term time for any reason other than illness or emergency, you must submit a written request to the Headteacher at least two weeks in advance.
Please note that, in accordance with the law in England, parents do not have the automatic right to take their children out of school during term time. The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006, as amended in 2013, state that leave of absence may only be granted in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Headteacher.
Unauthorised absences may result in a penalty notice or further legal action, so it is vital that all requests are made in writing to the Headteacher with sufficient notice.
Thank you for your support in ensuring high attendance and continuity in your child’s education.

Adventure Playground
You may be wondering what's happening with our Adventure Playground!
When our Adventure Playground was installed over 10 years ago, the company included bamboo as part of the landscaping. Unfortunately, this was an invasive variety, and it was not planted in the proper containment (such as metal planters) to prevent it from spreading. Over time, the bamboo has caused significant problems, including damage to the adventure playground structure itself.
To address this, we’ve undertaken a major project to remove all of the bamboo. With that now complete, we are carrying out extensive works to restore and improve the playground—this includes rebuilding tunnels, re-laying grass, and completing other essential groundworks.
You’ll see lots of activity in the coming weeks, and we’re aiming to have the Adventure Playground fully open again very soon.
Thank you for your patience and support while this important work is carried out!

Safe Parking
Please can we ask all parents/carers to take care when driving around our school and park safely. Please use parking around the common and walk to the school gates, dropping off children by our gates is dangerous and puts our children at risk. Please do not block other cars in or driveways, thank you.

Holidays in term time
A polite reminder that we do not authorise any holidays in term time. We recommend all parents/carers read our Attendance Policy and are familiar with it. It is important that all parents/carers understand that if you choose to take your child/ren out of school for a holiday in term time you may be issued with a fine from the Local Authority. Our policy includes more details on this.
In the event of information coming to light that an absence is due to a holiday, the policy will be followed and this will be coded as unauthorised.
Please be aware that the school does not provide work for pupils who take holiday in term time.
