TERM 2 2025-26

Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely half-term break. The children have returned full of energy and smiles, ready for what is always the most enjoyable term of the year.

We have lots to look forward to, including Parents’ Evenings, Nativity performances and carol concerts, Christmas lunch and of course the PTA Christmas Fayre. It’s such a special time in school, and we can’t wait to celebrate the festive season together as a school community.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Best wishes,

Mrs. Rubel

Music Mondays at Hambrook

This term at Hambrook, we’ve introduced Music Mondays -a new initiative designed to broaden our children’s musical horizons.

Each week, pupils will listen to a piece of music from a different genre, including classical, rock, theatre, pop, hip hop, jazz, and reggae. They’ll have the chance to respond creatively through discussion, art, and other expressive activities, while also discovering four fascinating facts about the featured artist or song.

We encourage you to talk with your child about the genre they explored during their Music Monday session and perhaps enjoy listening to more songs from that style together at home!

Attendance-requests for absences

We would like to remind all families that if you are planning for your child to be absent from school during term time for any reason other than illness or emergency, you must submit a written request to the Headteacher at least two weeks in advance.

Please note that, in accordance with the law in England, parents do not have the automatic right to take their children out of school during term time. The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006, as amended in 2013, state that leave of absence may only be granted in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Headteacher.

Unauthorised absences may result in a penalty notice or further legal action, so it is vital that all requests are made in writing to the Headteacher with sufficient notice.

Thank you for your support in ensuring high attendance and continuity in your child’s education.

Come and learn with us!

At Hambrook we are committed to working in partnership with our families. One way in which this happens at Hambrook is with our 'Stay and ....' sessions. Across the year, we provide a variety of sessions so that parents/carers can attend school and learn alongside their children. The benefits to these sessions are that our children enjoy them, our families enjoy them and it helps our parents/carers understand more about learning and the subjects studied at Hambrook.

This year we have added Stay and do PE and Stay and Meditate to our list. We hope you enjoy these new additions!

No booking is necessary, just come along on the day. Parents with more than one child are welcome to split their time between classes.

To comply with safeguarding, we politely ask that mobile phones are not used during these sessions.

Safe Parking

Please can we ask all parents/carers to take care when driving around our school and park safely. Please use parking around the common and walk to the school gates, dropping off children by our gates is dangerous and puts our children at risk. Please do not block other cars in or driveways, thank you.

Holidays in term time

A polite reminder that we do not authorise any holidays in term time. We recommend all parents/carers read our Attendance Policy and are familiar with it.  It is important that all parents/carers understand that if you choose to take your child/ren out of school for a holiday in term time you may be issued with a fine from the Local Authority. Our policy includes more details on this.

In the event of information coming to light that an absence is due to a holiday, the policy will be followed and this will be coded as unauthorised.

Please be aware that the school does not provide work for pupils who take holiday in term time.
