TERM 4 2022

Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Term 4. There are so many wonderful things to share with you in our newsletter this term. We have exciting updates from our mental health week and also lots of exciting events planned this term. Please keep up to date with our school Twitter account, we update this regularly so parents/carers can see the wonderful learning happening at Hambrook. To access our Twitter account please use this link (you do not need a Twitter account to see our wonderful school in action!)

Thank you for your continued support

Mrs. Rubel and Miss Cholmondeley

From 7th-13th February we proudly took part in Children's Mental Health Week. During the week the children enjoyed a range of lessons and extra activities to encourage and promote positive mental health. These included peer massage and planting trees (EYFS), cooking and planting (Year 1), outdoor yoga and exercise (Year 2), craft activities and walking to school (Year 3), learning new skills e.g. origami and creating kindness angels (Year 4), yoga and art lessons (Year 5) and dough disco and positivity posters (Year 6).

Parents' Evenings

Parents' Evenings will be happening next week on Monday 21st March and Wednesday 23rd March 3.30-6.10pm. Booking links have been sent out, if you haven't received you link please contact the school office.

We will be sending home English and Mathematics books on Thursday (17th March) for you to enjoy looking at with your child. We politely request that these are returned to school (with your child) on Friday (18th March).

School Meals

A polite reminder that school meals must be paid for in advance of a child having the meal, ideally at the start of each week. We have an increasing amount of large debits for school meals which is having a huge impact on the running of our school and is against our school policy. Please follow our school policy by paying in advance. Our school policy can be found here.

Queen's Jubilee

We will be celebrating the Queen's Jubilee on Tuesday 7th June 2022 with a special celebratory lunch together as a school community.  More menu details to be sent later this term.

Polite reminder about attendance

We have seen an increasing number of children arriving late this academic year. Unfortunately, this is resulting in lost learning time. If your child arrives into their classroom at 9am each day, they are missing 10 minutes of learning time a day, this equates to 50 minutes of lost learning over the week.

Please help your child by ensuring they arrive to school ready for lessons to begin at 8.50pm.

The school gates open at 8.40am. All pupils are able to enter the school grounds at this time.

At 8.50am, our school bell rings to signal the start of the school day. All children are expected to be in their classroom when the bell rings and ready to start learning. This is when the school day officially begins. Children not in the classroom at 8.50am will be marked as late (L) in our registers. Therefore, children will need to enter the school gates before 8.50 to allow sufficient time to reach their classroom before the register is taken.

If your child arrives between 8.50 and 9.00 am, they will be marked as late on the register.

After 9.00am, the school gates are closed. Children arriving after this time will need to go through the Main Office and will be marked as U (unauthorised absence) in the school register.

Holiday absence in term time

Holiday in term time, unless there are exceptional circumstances agreed to by the headteacher, will not be authorised. If you feel that there are exceptional circumstances that support a request for leave of absence in term time, a request must be made in writing to the Headteacher at least two weeks in advance of the absence. Each case will be considered on an individual basis and the decision communicated to parents/carers. Where an unauthorised holiday is taken for 10 sessions (5 days) or more, the school will pass this information onto the Local Authority, who may issue a fine to parents/carers.

Please find our attendance policy on our website here for further information.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Mr Thompson and his partner Alice who are expecting a baby in May!

This week #Hambrook3 were inspired by our class text Cloud Tea Monkeys to become Royal Tea Tasters. We used our 5 sense to review various teas and as you can see there were numerous reactions. Not all of them positive! https://t.co/w2UbPTUB1B
